The British Take Over The Colonists

Thomas O'Neil's opinion on the Patriot's side of the Townshen act
Would you like to get taxed by representatives that you don’t agree with? Well that’s what I’m going through. I’m Thomas O’Neil and my family and I just settled in America. We went out to buy some wool to make clothes and we had to pay taxes the owner told us that the British was in debt because they had spent so much money on supplies for the war against the Indians. The owner also said that the tax was not only on wool it was also on paper, glass, paint, and lead. I am against being taxed if we don’t have any representatives to represent us or fight for the people that are against.
Robert Adam's opinion on the Loyalist's side of the Townshen act
Have you ever gotten taxed before? If you haven’t then you are really missing out because taxes are fun to have especially when the taxes are from the British they tax you on wool, paper, glass, paint, and lead. I’m Robert Adams and I agree with the Townshand act. The Townshand act is when the British became in debt from spending money on supplies for the war against the Indians. In order for them to get money back they put tax on Wool, paper, glass, paint, and lead. Every time you buy one of these items you have to pay extra money. That money goes to the British for them to be able to pay off their debt. I’m Robert Adams and I agree with the Townshand act.
Deceleration of Independence
On July 4th, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was made. This document was made by the Continental Congress and Thomas Jefferson. Also, this document tells all of the colonists that they have freedoms and rights and their equality. One of the main reasons the Declaration of Independence was because Jefferson and the Continental Congress wanted to state that the United States of America was made. The Declaration of Independence is one of the most important documents ever made because it is about treating everyone equally.
Taxation
“No taxation without representation” is the words the colonists said when the British taxed them on paper which is called the Stamp Act. This phrase means that the British can’t tax them unless the colonists have someone to represent them. Taxes are when you have to pay extra when you buy something like paper, wool, glass paint and lead. When the British taxed the colonists because they were in debt from the French and Indian war so they put taxes on things that the colonists buy.
Paul Revere's Ride
Many of you have probably heard of Paul Revere’s ride, but the question is do you know what his ride is famous for? Paul Revere’s ride is famous because when the British were in a war with the Patriot’s about taxation he was the one to gather all of the minutemen who are men who are ready to fight at any time. He was riding back from delivering a letter, when he heard that the British were planning to attack and destroy all of the weapons that the Patriot’s had gathered he was off. He drove through Concord and gathered all the minutemen and they were ready to block the British from getting in Concord. In the battle of Lexington the Patriot’s won against British.
The Boston Tea Party
When Parliament made all of the colonists buy tea made by the British this act was called the Tea Act. Most of the colonists were not very happy about this new act that Parliament had set on them. In addition to some of the colonists not being very happy about what Parliament had done some of them dressed up as Native Americans and boarded the ship where all of the British tea was stored. The colonists who were on the ship were throwing all of the tea into the water so it got ruined so the colonists would not have to pay for the tea. This was called The Boston Tea Party.
The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre took place in Boston on March 5, 1770. Colonist Workers argued with British soldiers and the colonists were throwing snow balls and shouting insults. More soldiers arrived, the crowd of colonists got bigger and were throwing even more snowballs. Which made the British mad, all the British soldiers came out and fired gunshots in the crowd. Which made the colonists mad and five colonists were killed including Chrispus Attucks who had escaped slavery. Many colonists were injured and were close to dying.
