WHAT A GREAT DAY AT TREMONT
We had the BEST day at Tremont today. Thank you to everyone who helped with and donated to our Walk-a-Thon! The kids looked great in their shirts and did a lot of walking and RUNNING! They should be extra tired when they get home today, you're welcome! We also got to have some with Brutus!
We hope you have a great weekend!
Tremont Family Literacy Night
We invite all parents & caregivers to join us on Wednesday, September 27 at 6:30pm. We will share what reading and writing instruction looks like at school, as well as easy tips to help strengthen your child's literacy skills at home! We hope to see you there for this adults only event!
Physical Education Shoes
In physical education, safety is a top priority. Ensuring your child has the right footwear during PE is crucial for their safety and well-being. Athletic shoes provide the necessary support and stability needed for a wide range of physical activities, and greatly reduce the risk of injury to your child. Crocs (even in sport mode), sandals, flip-flops, boots, slides, and other non-athletic shoes are not conducive to the activities the students perform in PE class. Because of this, we encourage all students to wear athletic shoes during physical education class. If you have any questions, please reach out to us, thank you!

Gizmos and Smart Watches
Here are links to information about school-time settings for two devices we see here at school, the Apple watch and the Gizmo watch. We kindly ask that students use these settings. Please know we will always call you or allow your child to call you during the day, if needed.
It is imperative that your child's Gizmo or Smart watch be set to school mode and that it remains in school mode for the duration of the school day. Thank you for your support.
TSA Tidbits
New! Walk + Roll WEDNESDAYS Start September 27th!
Walk + Roll is a Tremont tradition promoting walking and biking safely to school. Every student that rides a bike, scoots or walks to school on Wednesdays (September 27th through October 25th) receives a hole punch in their passport (i.e. punch cards). We will have 2 parent volunteers at each of the three entrances Wednesday morning. These parents will distribute the passports with the first hole punch. For every hole punch TSA will donate $.05 to World Bicycle Relief.
After the fall session is over in October, students should turn in their punch cards! Students with completed cards will also be entered into a drawing to win extra recess for their class!
Attached is a flyer that has more details.
Interested in volunteering? Here is a sign up sheet! Any further questions, please contact Kristen Pastor at kcpastor@gmail.com.
Tremont Fall Festival
Please view the attached flyer regarding upcoming punch card and ticket sales for the Fall Festival. The punch cards are what the kids will use to play games/participate in activities while they will use the raffle tickets to try to win one of the Fall Festival baskets that each class is preparing. We want everyone to be able to participate if they would like! If this is not possible for your family at this time, please reach out to Mrs. Allocco. Please reach out to coreyajohnston@gmail.com or tina.thiara@gmail.com with any questions!
We need volunteers to make this event successful! Please click on the links below to sign up and help out with punch card/raffle ticket sales or to volunteer the day of:

Tremont Walking Club
Walking Club takes place during recess on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students walk around the outside of the turf field, track their laps and earn charms. Walking Club continues to be popular, especially with the 1st and 2nd graders. Parent volunteers make it happen! Click HERE to sign up and help out.

Attendance Policy Update
Based on a couple of questions received, we have drafted a response that principals can share with families in newsletters again this week. Thanks!
We want to clarify the attendance policy information shared with families regarding student illnesses. As we enter cold and flu season, we want families to be aware of the existing Board of Education policy regarding absences.
A student may have up to 10 medically excused absences without a doctor’s note, but with a phone call from a parent/guardian. This includes any illness such as COVID, flu and fever-related illnesses, as well as any medical visits (physician, dentist, mental health professional, etc.). Beyond the 10 days, students will need a medical note for an absence due to illness or medical visit to be excused. With this in mind, we encourage families to ask for a doctor’s note anytime they do go to the doctor’s office or have a telehealth visit, if possible, so that those hours are excused and do not count toward a student’s excessive absence hours. A medical note will be accepted within five days of the student’s absence.
