FFA @ McKay HS

The Salem-Keizer FFA Chapter attended the Capital District FFA leadership camp and represented themselves and the McKay community very well. Members had a blast networking and learning more about how they can make a positive impact on those around them.

Safety Update

Student's in the Halls

We at McKay take pride in adjusting our systems and practices to meet the needs of our student community. Over the course of the next few weeks we are going to shift our practices in our hallways. If your student is in the hallway 20 minutes after the bell without an appropriate pass (attendance slip, classroom hall pass, tardy slip), they will be brought to our Scots Center to have a conversation with a behavior specialist. This might result in a phone call home or another consequence. We are asking that you support this initiative by encouraging your student to get to class on time, and if they have to be late, that it not be taken to the extreme. This is a plan to address a small percentage of our students and is likely to not impact the day-to-day of your Royal Scot. We do appreciate your support. If you have not already downloaded ParentVUE to check your student’s attendance, we strongly encourage it.

Senior Credit Audit

Seniors are completing many credits in their credit recovery classes. Thus far 76 courses have been completed by students. Amazing!!! If you look over your transcript or course history in studentvue, you will be able to find out whether or not you are on track. If you have questions, please reach out to your counselor. They have recently done what they call a “credit audit” and are well aware of your progress towards graduation.

Testing Day (October 12) @ McKay High School

Portland State University visit

Last week a representative from PSU was in our school helping students with their application to the university. During the visit more than 30 Royal Scots were admitted to attend PSU next fall. Great Job Seniors.
