Black Bob Family Newsletter

December 2015

From the Principal...

I was in our 1st grade classrooms this week as they were sharing their Holiday Tradition writing piece they have been working on. It was fun to read and listen to their family traditions. I hope that each of you will get to have a special tradition or start a new one with your children.

On behalf of the staff here at Black Bob, we wish you a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends.

Recess Guidelines

Outdoor Recess: Outside air temperature and/or wind chill is greater than 20 degrees F. No falling precipitation.

Communication

The Olathe Public Schools provides various tools to keep parents informed about what’s happening in the district. This is done through the district website, social media, brochures, newsletters and other communication pieces. The district works closely with schools to assist with issues that occur. One question that has arisen recently concerns when and how information is dispersed about “stranger danger” incidents. When these types of incidents occur, we encourage parents to contact the police. The school and district works closely with local law enforcement on these incidents. Law enforcement investigates and consults with the district if they feel communication to the wider community is necessary. As a district, we take our cues from law enforcement as we want to make sure that when we communicate about unusual activity in the area, it is because our law enforcement partners truly feel there is an issue of concern.

Thank you for your support!

5th Grade Bake Sale was a huge success. Thank you for purchasing items before the Thanksgiving Holiday.

We had a wonderful turn out at our Holiday Mart with more vendors than we have had before. The 5th grade did great with their donuts and hot chocolate sales, too.
