The 8th Amendment
Bails, fines and punishments have their limits.
Amendment VIII: (1789) "Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."
Excessive Bail & Fines
Bail is used when the defendant in a case uses money to release them from arrest if they show up for trail. But, the eight amendment does not allow court to request extremely large amounts of money for a bail. The worse the crime, the higher the bail.
Cruel & Unusual Punishment
Although the 8th amendment does not specify what it means by "cruel and unusual punishments," it tries to prevent terrible ways to die, such as burning, strangling, drowning, or any kind of torture.
Summary
In conclusion, the 8th amendment focuses on the judicial branch and the rights of the people. People do deserve second chances and a death that is not inhumane.
