Ranger News You Can Use! December 4, 2022
Message from Mr. Wahl, Principal
Dear Parents,
This week, December 5 - 9th, will be a busy week at Smithson Valley High School. We will have plenty of concerts, plays, athletic activities, and STAAR End of Course Exam testing all throughout the week.
I wanted to let everyone know that our NJROTC Cadets are collecting toys to assist with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. The basic mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Program is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas. Collection boxes are located in the SVHS main hallway and the collection deadline has been extended to Friday, December 9th. Please consider donating a new unwrapped toy this week!
Let's have a great Ranger Week!
Michael Wahl
Principal

STAAR TESTING - December 6 - 9
This week is STAAR End-of-Course exams. This is a make-up opportunity for students to take and pass one or more of the exams that is needed for graduation. These exams will be Tuesday December 6, 2022, thru Friday December 9, 2022. Students who need to test were sent notes notifying them of testing this week. More notes will be sent as reminders of when and where to report for testing. Again, this is a makeup opportunity for students who are new to Comal ISD or have not previously had the opportunity to complete the one or more of the tests to meet the graduation guidelines.
As always if you have questions, please reach out to the SVHS Testing Office at jennifer.hester@comalisd.org

Where do PTA funds go to in High School?
SVHS PTSA is an extremely active group on the SVHS campus. We provide scholarships for seniors, strive to fill all teacher/classroom requests, supply snacks for student events, throw monthly staff appreciation events, stock the workroom, bring food and other appreciation items for the bus drivers and custodians, participate in school programs, host the winter dance, and this year, we are hoping to bring in several interactive programs for the students.
