November 13, 2015

Good afternoon, Mustangs! We are so proud of our MES family as we have all worked together to support our wonderful PTO in preparing for the World's Most Awesome Silent and Live Auctions!! Please do come join the fun! Our doors open at 5:30 p.m.and there are many different types of baskets for shopping. Just think, one basket could be divided into many gifts or kept together for fun...such as the "Rainy Day Basket" that PTO volunteers are already wanting to buy! I, myself, can't wait to see who the Principal for the Day will be, or who will be watching the Star Wars Movie with Mr. Hornecek, or who will be working out with Ms. Mays! The anticipation is keeping the everyone electrified!!! Hope to see you tonight!

With great pride, I thank each of our students who brought a veteran, active duty military person, or first responder to our Veteran's Day Celebration. The parade was awesome! The program was glowing with our 4th grade chorus and Major Hermann's presentation! Yes, we had a veteran from World War II and this wonderful family had four generations present! How awesome is this! Patriotism, pride, and honor are alive and well at Midway!!

I do want to share with you that we have had wonderful professional development with Expeditionary Learning. There will be more details later but right now we are training our leadership crew and they in turn are training our faculty. We are learning from each other and our School Designer. This is very exciting as this learning structure will align with our middle and high schools. Many of our students can already share with you about Crew Meetings and Learning Targets as teachers explore these structures. This is exciting stuff!!!

I do hope that you are enjoying the sunshine! It is such a welcomed sight even though it is suppose to be cooler this weekend. Please do continue to read with our young Mustangs and enjoy the weekend!

Mustangs getting fit with Tabata!

Tabata is high intensity exercises in 20 second intervals for 2 minutes. Tabata has been integrated throughout Midway Elementary during our school day. Any class can create their own Tabata exercise and have it videotaped. We have a drive on Google with previous workouts that were taped and can be used by the teachers. We are working our body and mind together to do great things.
