October Library Update

Houston Academy

What's happening in the library...

How's the book business?

This month so far Houston Academy students have checked out 2,200 books. Not bad considering we didn't check out for a week because of book fair!

Ms. Gilbert and her crack team of library helpers have shelved the 2,413 books that were returned after being read.

We requested and received 115 books from other campuses, and we sent 125 books to other campuses who needed to borrow them.

Students have been very excited about our Bluebonnet Books this year and are requesting them right and left. Mr. Castille's class is reading The One and Only Ivan, and other ELA teachers are sharing books with their classes too. A number of our Pumpkin Pageant entries were based on this year's Bluebonnet Titles.

The Pumpkin Pageant

Thank you so much for helping to make the Pumpkin Pageant such a huge success!

I am always impressed with the amazing pumpkins you guys create with your classes.

If you haven't had a chance check out the video of our entries below.

Superintendent's Choice Award

Dr. Bamberg selected the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland by Ms. Gutierrez's Class as her personal favorite for Superintendent's Choice.

Book Fair

Thank you so much for helping make Book Fair a success again this year. The kids had a great time, and it helped raise funds to continue improving our library. I appreciate the teachers who helped, and a special thanks to Mrs. Williams and Ms. Dawson for helping me during open house.
