Superintendent's Message Superintendent's Message

zoom_out_map

It is hard to believe that in a few short days, it will be March. It seems like just yesterday we were welcoming the 2022-23 school year at the Back to School Rally! Fast forward a few short months, and here we are sharing end-of-year information and dates with the Class of 2023 and preparing to welcome our newest class of learners at Kindergarten Welcome Night.

This change in season also marks an important time for our district. In just two short months, Midview Local Schools will be on the ballot. As you have heard me say since it was first proposed in 2022 -- the substitute levy will allow our district to keep current personnel and maintain levels of operation. As our second attempt in May is the last before our budget turns over in July, the levy's outcome will be in effect come the 2023-24 school year.

As such, a proposed plan of reductions has been prepared and shared with the Board, Union Leadership, and building-level administration. Potential budget and staffing reductions will be shared with staff in early March and with the community shortly after.

Discussion of cuts is never easy as, ultimately, this directly impacts student performance and opportunities. This is why the focus of our communications continues to be how we can maintain current levels of performance and operation rather than potential reductions.

Our students, staff, parents and community make us who we are and We Are Midview. Thank you for your continued support.

Take care,

Dr. Willingham
