WINTER GUARD UPDATE
It's hard to believe we are already entering the last half of the Winter Guard season.
The New Palestine Glitter Dragons earned another Gold rating at the Terre Haute South competition on February 18th. At the Northview competition on February 25th, the Regional A guard claimed 4th place with a score of 67.4 - While the Open guard also earned a 4th place finish with a score of 71.70.
All three teams have made huge strides in their 2023 campaigns. Thank you to all members and volunteers for your hard work thus far. Good luck the rest of the way!!
Our Regional A and Open guards are each taking their shows to Hamilton Southeastern for State Prelims on March 4th, while our Cadet Glitter Dragons are headed to Decatur Central for their Divisional Finals on 3/11.
This Years Shows:
Open- "All the Lonely People"
Competing in open class in IHSCGA and at WGI World Championships, "All the Lonely People" tells the story of Eleanor Rigby. Performers embody the concept of loneliness as all people can relate to in this emotional and expressive production.
Regional A- "Space Oddity"
The Regional A takes the audience on a journey to outer space with their galactic colored tarp and life size rocket ship prop. "Space Oddity" tells the story of the journey of losing connection from earth when exploring what is beyond.
Glitter Dragons - "What Dreams Are Made Of"
The Glitter Dragons are living the pop star dream of Lizzie Mcguire performing in Cadet Class to "What Dreams Are Made Of".

2023-24 NPBBA BOARD ELECTIONS
Want to help steer the direction of the New Palestine Band Programs?
Now is your chance! It's time to build the ballot for the 2023-24 NPBBA Board of Directors elections that will take place on April 26th. As is the case each year - every seat will be voted on, and awarded to the person that receives the most votes.
If you would like to run for a seat - or if you have questions about joining the Board - please reach out to our Nominating Committee: Alan Ausbrooks (current/outgoing Community Liaison) or Amy Wood (current/outgoing Secretary).
Board of Directors seats and an uber-brief summary:
President - leads meetings and keeps the direction of the program on track
Vice-President - supports the Prez where needed
Secretary - records the official minutes for board meetings
Treasurer - counts all (ALL!) the beans ;)
Student Accounts Coordinator - tracks & collects student dues
Concessions Coordinator - makes sure our responsibilities for concessions are handled
Fundraising Coordinator - finds and maintains opportunities to raise funds for the program
Sponsorship Coordinator - manages our awesome sponsors and looks for new ones
Community Liaison - manages emails, social media, and the band website
In addition to the independent roles and responsibilities, the Board of Directors meet about once a month to be sure all is well in the land of our portion of the NPHS Performing Arts.
It is the intention to hold this years elections In-Person for Voting Boosters, rather than be virtual, as has been the case since 2020.
(Voting Boosters are comprised of parents or guardians of middle and high school students
participating in all High School band and guard programs of the Community School Corporation of
Southern Hancock County.)
