Kifton's Second Grade Superstars!

Overview for March and April

All About Numbers!

We Love to Count

In the month of March it is all about counting. I am going to be helping your children learn how to count from 0-9 as well as draw the numbers, and be able correlate the numbers to real life situations. One night ask your child to set the table for six people, and see how many plates and sets of silverware they bring to the table.

We will be doing a variety of activities during the month to help each other learn the numbers and really gain an understanding of how often these numbers are used in the real world. Activities like counting candy and placing them into bowls, and drawing insects corresponding to a certain number.

Field Trip to the Zoo!

On March 15th we will be taking a field trip to the Houston Zoo to go see all sorts of animals that we have been learning about in the classroom.

Remember to send your child with some sunscreen as well as a bagged lunch or some money to get lunch at the zoo.

We will need a few parent chaperones; if anyone is interested contact me via email.

Guaranteed to be Relaxing!

Adventure Stories!

The students are so excited to begin the adventure stories section of our reading. We will be reading books like Harvey Moon, Museum Boy, Follow that Bear If You Dare, and Pirate Pete’s Giant Adventure. All of these books are great for children in Pre-Kindergarten.

Don’t be surprised if your children come home and want to make an eye patch and run around pretending to be Pete the Pirate!
