SMART Start - Indiana Testing and Security Training - Band Room K-8

Every year we have to document that we have all attended the Indiana Testing and Security Training for ISTEP+ and IREAD3. We are going to follow that training with an IDOE Assessment Overview Video. I would like all K-8 to attend.

Parent/Teacher and Student Led Conferences - Thursday, October 1 from 3:15 pm - 7:00 pm

Cameron will be in the elementary computer lab Monday morning for anyone that needs help entering midterm grades in Skyward. Midterm grades are not due until Monday and we will send them home with students on Tuesday.

K-3 are expected to meet with at least half of the parents this round. Please make sure Beth/Carol have one copy of your schedule. Parents call throughout the day and ask all kinds of questions.

Grades 4-8 will host student led conferences with the teachers available to sit down and meet at any time throughout the evening. If you have a student that is struggling with behavior or academics - please take time to talk to the parents for a few minutes.

Grade 4 will meet in their classrooms.

Grades 5/6 will be in the cafe.

Grades 7/8 will meet in their classrooms starting with block 3.

Encore/Special area teachers will be in their areas except for PE - they will be in the library.

Arely Pizana has sent a few emails reminding you that she is available to meet with you and parents.

We will have pizza, salad, cookies, water/soft drinks in the small gym at 5:15 pm. This can be a grab and go or if your schedule allows you can sit/relax and eat for a few minutes.

Kaiser/Connor/Voirol will be in the halls the entire evening.

AdvancED Fall Conference 2015

I attended the AdvancED Fall Conference in Indy earlier this week. Even though it wasn't a big WOW conference, I did have the opportunity to hear a middle school student that was one of the Keynote Speakers as well as a couple of panels of students that interacted with us. My take-away from them....it is all about the relationships. We are on the right track as we put students first and try to get to know each of them. The titles of their presentations: Engage Us. Empower Us, One Student's Advice for Teachers and The Voice of the Future: Hearing From Those We Serve. I will share more later. Mrs. Kaiser
