Mr. B's Corner

Yesterday afternoon, the world watched as the jury delivered the verdict in the trial of Derek Chauvin. I made it home for the night right as the verdict was being read. Like most families, Laura and I, debriefed together immediately. Tensions have been high in our communities, and we know there will be continued discussions across our community in the days and weeks to come. As you have conversations with your family in the coming days, you may find these resources we’ve shared before helpful:

As students returned to school today, we heard many students engaging in healthy reflective conversations. Witnessing and facilitating these conversations reminded me of Lighthouse School’s mission, “The purpose of Lighthouse School is to provide an enriched learning environment that matches the needs of self-directed, gifted and insatiable learners with curious minds, who are driven to make meaning of their world.” Quite honestly, it is very difficult to understand how we may be able “to make meaning of their world,” right now, but while I listened to their conversations I became ever more hopeful that we will be able to look back on this trying time as a tipping point toward a better and safer world. Our students are making “meaning of their world” in a way that brings me hope.

As always, thanks for entrusting your child(ren) to Lighthouse School for Gifted and Insatiable Learners,

Kevin

The outrageous, uproarious, and gloriously entertaining story of King Arthur and the Lady of the Lake will delight audiences as they search for the Holy Grail and “always look on the bright side of life.” Opening weekend is this weekend, April 23-24. We are pleased to offer two matinee performances at a discounted ticket price, perfect for families! Tickets are limited to purchase at the Box Office Now.
