Spelling Bee!
On January 9, fourth through sixth grade students attended an assembly for the 2019 Green Tree Spelling Bee. There were 14 students who competed as the representative from each classroom (fourth-sixth), and 14 alternates were also recognized. Representatives and alternates were determined in classroom competitions that were held in the library. Please see the pictures with captions below to see the names of all students who participated that day.
This year, the bee lasted 19 rounds as the students vied for the medals in the spelling bee. Congratulations to the three top medal champions: First Place: Lili Farid, Second Place: Ella Landman, and Third Place: Madeleine Kimball. As the First Place Champion, Lili will travel to McKendree University to compete in a regional event in March. The winners of the regional competitions will then be eligible to compete for a spot in the Scripps National Spelling Bee to be held in Washington, D. C. Thank you to all of the Green Tree students who competed in the School Spelling Bee, and good luck to Lili Farid as she moves on to the next level!
