Eccles Wednesday News

Below are some school highlights for you to be aware of...

A Note from Mr. McKean

Greetings Eccles Community!

In an effort to ensure that our families all receive our district-wide communication at the same time, I am shifting away from sending out Eccles ‘Friday’ News and will now be sending out Eccles ‘Wednesday’ news weekly. I hope that this change will provide you with the ease of finding the information you need each week.

Week 2 is off to a great start! Once again, it is wonderful to see our kids in person. While remote learning may have had some benefits for some, there is no doubt that it simply does not take the place of teaching and learning in a face to face setting for most of our students and staff. It is our top priority to make sure we continue to do whatever we can to keep in-person school going. This may at times feel a bit restrictive so I thank you for your patience as we tightly adhere to the state guidance with this priority in mind.

Warm Regards,
Mr. McKean

Outdoor Eating

Yesterday we kicked off all K-6 lunches taking place in our Courtyard Cafeteria. The kids responded well to this new adventure in their school day as did the staff. With the exception of battling with a few outdoor critters (bugs), lunches outside are going well. In the near future we are scheduled to receive a 40’x40’ tent that will adequately cover all tables. We are taking this new practice one day at a time to see how we do with shifting guidance and shifting weather.

Playground Update

Good news!! Our playground equipment has arrived! It is not much to look at right now all wrapped up and sitting on pallets but we are one step closer to having an amazing new play structure for our students!

Volunteer/Visitors Update

With the ever shifting guidance, we are still pausing on having volunteers and visitors at the school. We all look forward to the time we can once again benefit from all of the parental support that we get from our parents. We are prioritizing keeping school going in person, however, and want to make sure that we adhere to all of the safety guidance that will continue to allow us to do so.

Keep in mind that once we have volunteers back in our schools, they must be fully vaccinated, submit proof of vaccination and wear masks during their time in the building. In addition, we will be limited to one volunteer per class per day. Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
