Richard Wagner
Great composer, but possibly a Nazi...
Early Life for Richard
He was born in Leipzig, Germany. Although he is very famous and skilled, others didn't think so when he was in school. His teacher commented that his piano playing skills were, "Torturing the piano." When he was 11, he wrote his first drama, and worked for himself.
Bridal March
Wagner created the music that is played once the bride enters. When he first played this in an opera, it ended with the groom murdering some of the guests.
Married twice
Wagner was married twice, and both times, he was soon after inspired to create a new piece of music.
Ride of the Valkyries
One of his most famous pieces, this was used by Hitler, and the United Kingdom's Parachute Regiment.
Association with Nazis
Although Wagner may be connected to the Nazis and Hitler in some ways, he was not a Nazi. Hitler chose some of Wagner's work due to it being "anti-semitic". Wagner lived in the 1800's, which was before Hitler even came to power.
