Hello FUSD Staff and Community,

This week many of our sites are celebrating Kindness Week, hosting events for the Lunar New Year, and otherwise engaging our students. I send my gratitude to everyone contributing their time and other resources to these enriching events, and I wish each of you a Happy Lunar New Year.

On January 19, our Board appointed Sharon Coco to fill the Area 1 Trustee position vacated by former Trustee Desrie Campbell upon her election to the Fremont City Council. We welcome Trustee Coco to the Board, and I am sure she will do an excellent job serving FUSD over the remaining two years of this term.

Last week FUSD hosted our first State of the District event. Thank you to everyone who tuned in or submitted questions, and to the limited in-person audience who joined me at Washington High School’s Husky Theatre to enjoy that newly-completed facility made possible by Fremont voters who supported Measure E. Updates on other Measure E projects, including our middle school conversions, are among the updates included in the event recording and presentation slides available at www.fremont.k12.ca.us/series.

Unauthorized Access to our Notification System

This morning our district-wide notification system was accessed to broadcast on our intercoms during school hours. Though the broadcast was innocuous, we are not taking this unauthorized access lightly.

We are working diligently to investigate this incident and mitigate future unauthorized access, and will assign consequences to the fullest extent possible, and pursue legal action as appropriate.

Further, we are in the midst of ongoing work with the state officials to increase security around our notification systems and that work will continue.

We apologize for the interruption and any concern this caused.

2023-24 New Student Enrollment Open Now

Transitional kindergarten (TK), kindergarten, sibling priority and other new student enrollment for the 2023-24 school year is open now at www.fremont.k12.ca.us/enrollment.

Eligibility for transitional kindergarten is expanding: children who will be 5 years old between September 2, 2023 and April 2, 2024 can enroll in this free program for 2023-24 to get a head start in school and build their social, communication and independence skills.

If your student is currently attending an FUSD school in grades TK-11, there is no need to re-enroll.

Get Involved in FUSD

We are currently recruiting representatives to serve on various committees. Whether you're a parent, alumni, student, teacher, or simply someone who cares about the future of Fremont, you can help support FUSD and our students by serving on a committee. Learn more.

Thank you all for your continued support for our students, staff and schools.

Sincerely,

CJ Cammack
