Micro Elementary Parent Newsletter
February 3rd, 2020
Message from Principal Parrish
Greetings from the Web,
I would like to share that our Evacuation Drill was a huge success. We evacuated campus in under 15 minutes. Our staff and students handled themselves with great poise. First responders on hand were very complimentary of our staff and students.
I would like to invite parents to two upcoming events. On February 6th @ 9:30, we will host our quarterly Coffee with Mr. Parrish event. I typically share a short presentation and then we have a Q and A opportunity. On February 20th @ 6:30 pm, we will host our monthly parent academy event. Child care and snacks are provided. This months topic is Internet Safety for Children.
Lastly, I would like to offer two tips for parents.
#1: Take time to read with your children. This could be materials sent home from school, chapter books, comic books, or picture books. It doesn't really matter what you read with them. By reading with them regularly you will build their confidence and help them grow their skills.
#2: Practice math fact withs your children. This could be addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division. Skip counting is a great way to start. For example, count by 2's: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12.... and then move on to 5's, 10's and more. The more math facts they learn, the more their confidence in math will improve.
Thank you for everything that you do to support our school,
Mr. Parrish
