News from ESL Class
December 2019
December Learning
In December, we learned about writing opinions. We used the Pigeon Book Series by Mo Williams to help us develop YES/NO opinions.
We learned:
*how to verbalize a reason
*organize 3 reasons using a tree map
*use various transition words
*add a "because" to elaborate our reason(s)
*present our writing to our friends and family
January Learning
In January, we will continue to learn more about opinion writing. We will start to develop opinions to more open-ended questions. For example, "What is your favorite sport and why?"
This will allow the students to think deeper before sharing their reason(s) with the class.
Please use Raz-Kids at home!
Raz-kids is a fantastic way for your student to practice listening, reading, and speaking new English words. The books are leveled. This means once your student completes a reading level, your student will move up to a harder level. The more you read at home, the more exposure they will get to English!
WIDA starts in February!
