DECA Car Wash Raises Over $500 for Charity

The Lawrence High School DECA Chapter recently held their annual car wash. Ran by its Chapter Advisors Mrs. Diane Schneck and Mr. John Tees, 50 DECA members volunteered their time to wash cars for the Lawrence community. LHS DECA and the Lawrence community helped to support the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation with a donation of over $500.

This year, NJ DECA has chosen the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation to receive the proceeds of the State Community Service Project. The Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation goal is to raise awareness and provide support for teenagers and young adults that have been diagnosed with a cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. All the proceeds from the car wash will be going to this foundation as well as other fundraising events this year held by DECA, including tonight's DECA Volleyball Tournament!

If you know of a student, teacher, or staff member that deserves a little extra recognition for doing something amazing, please send your submission to kroche@ltps.org. We're looking for unique achievements, exciting news, talent highlights, even random acts of kindness! If possible, please include a picture relevant to your submission.

DECA Volleyball Night

The DECA-sponsored volleyball tournament will take place on Thursday, November 1st from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This year we have around 15 teams vying for the crown, including one teacher/staff team. Money from the event will go to support the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation.

Daylight Savings Time Ends

Sunday, November 4th is the end of Daylight Savings Time...don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour at 2:00 a.m.!

Powder Puff Tough

The 2018 Powder Puff game is scheduled for Tuesday, November 6th at 6:00 p.m. Come cheer on the senior and junior girls as they go head-to-head in this annual battle of speed and skill. Admission is just $5. Pizza will be available for $2 per slice, or visit the House of Cupcakes food truck! Long-sleeved t-shirts will also be on sale for $15.

While at the game, please consider purchasing a candle kit from Student Council, who is working with Womanspace to promote "Community of Lights." Houses in Mercer County will display the lit candles outside on December 3rd to show support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Schools Closed

Schools will be closed on Wednesday, November 7th for Professional Development, and on Thursday, November 8th and Friday, November 9th for the NJEA Teachers Convention.

Fall Drama Production

The LHS Theater Company will proudly present John Bishop's THE MUSICAL COMEDY MURDERS OF 1940 on November 15th, 16th, and 17th at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. This is a spooky and funny show about a group of actors that come to Elsa VonGrosseneuten's mansion under the pretense that they are there for an audition. Little do the actors and producers know, they are actually under surveillance by an undercover cop to find out which one of them is the famed STAGE DOOR SLASHER. As the play progresses, we witness what seem to be a few murders in the mansion, some exciting stage combat, and we also find out that many of these characters are not who they say they are! Come out and support LHS Theater Company and have an enjoyable evening by seeing THE MUSICAL COMEDY MURDERS of 1940! Hope to see you there! Adult tickets are $10 and students are $8. All tickets are general admission and sold at the door the nights of the show, starting at 6:30 p.m.

The show will run as follows:

  • Act One (1 hour)
  • Intermission (15 minutes)
  • Act Two (1 hour)
