COLLIER ADULT EDUCATION

Message from the Leadership Team.
While we are always recognizing activities and learning that are present in our classes, we do not always have the opportunity to recognize the great activities and learning that occurs at our Naples Jail Center Location. These past few week great things have been going on at that jail. Career Source has joined us at the jail working closely with our students to help them better prepare themselves for reentry. Leo Mediavilla has also now expanded his audience in which he helps to students develop the Seven Habits on the Inside. During the day program, Hunter had three graduates this past week with the help of Joseph Martino, who administered the GED. Eric and Brooke who teach in the evenings are expecting to have a few more to add. They will be recognizing the achievements of the students with a formal cap and gown ceremony next month.
Please help me welcome five new staff members to our team:
- Tatsiana Powel, Testing procotor
- Zeinab Slaiby, PRHS ESOL Instructor
- Gina Carriere, LWTC ESOL Instructor
- Mario Dorestal, LHS ESOL Instructor
- Heidy Perez, LWTC ESOL Instructor

Thank you for all the work you have shown in your lesson planning. As I visit all the sites, it makes me happy to see all that you do! Last week, we welcomed a teacher at PRHS, Zeinab Slaiby! She was a part of our family a couple of years ago and is now back teaching the intermediate/advanced class. Thank you for already turning in your lesson plans Zeinab! You are awesome!
At first glance when I come into the classrooms, I saw Huguette, Randi, and Lorraine’s IPC out and highlighting which week we were in! Thank you, that’s a big help for me too! I’m sure all of you are following the pacing calendar to help guide you through the curriculum! We know it is hard to start “teaching” when all our students are not in class exactly at 5pm, but I appreciate Kirsti J. at BCHS for starting and having an agenda beginning at 5pm and ending at 8:30pm. One way to make sure all students are engaged from the start is what Tammy C. does with her students at GGHS. See picture attached. She starts her class in the computer lab working on the Interactive Practice CD’s found in the back of the textbooks. Great way to review and practice computer skills in her Foundations Level class.
On the technology topic, Gina C. has fun using Kahoot in her class as well as Stephanie S. who is always incorporating Quizlet live! Exciting to see the students completely engaged and the excitement when they win! Stephanie’s class are all on CCPS wi-fi! If you would like your class to use district’s free wi-fi…on their device go to setting…click WiFi CCPS…username is 6 digit student ID# and password is 4 digit birth month birth date. Ex. July 8 0708
If you have something that you would like to share, please let me know!
PS Mr. M, I’m proud of you learning how to incorporate technology into your multi- level class!
See below for an effective strategy to use in your classroom for a reading, writing, listening and speaking activity you can use with any lesson. 3-2-1 Strategy is one of my favorites!
