The Heartbreak of Betrayal
Myles Haley Katherine Ashlynn Evelyn
We believe this story to be in relation of the theme because this work deals with betrayal, when Solomon, a free man, is tricked into being sold back into slavery and taken away from his family for over a decade.
With the use of ‘the heartbreak of betrayal in movies and literature, it can inspire us to overcome obstacles, such as depression and heartbreak. What can be learned, is that everything is temporary and things are bound to get better. This can be seen in the book, in how Claudio and Hero's relationship is torn apart, leaving them both heart broken. The lesson though, is that in the end, even if your hurt, you can get through it. This is also shown in how they get back together in the end of the novel. Overall, with this theme, we can learn that not all growth takes place in sunlight.
We feel this quote represents the premise of the book, especially the theme, 'heartbreak of betrayal,' because the betrayal expressed in the novel only occurred because Claudio's outrage was because of his love for Hero and the thought that she betrayed him.
“What irritated me most in that entire situation was the fact that I
wasn’t feeling humiliated, or annoyed, or even fooled. Betrayal was
what I felt, my heart broken not just by a guy I was in love with, but
also by, as I once believed, a true friend.”
