COLLIER ADULT EDUCATION
Tuesday, April 30, 2019
Message from the Leadership Team.
We thank all the teachers who attended our most recent workshop Adults with Learning Disabilities presented by Dr. Neil Sturomski and sponsored by ACE of Florida. We had over a dozen Collier Adult Education instructors in attendance along with teachers from five counties across the state. There was a lot of great information shared and we look forward to the follow-up visit that will occur in the fall. At our recent coordinator meeting, we invited all support staff and shared recent state program data. We shared best practices and solicited ideas for improving our processes. We started cross-training and certifying all support staff in e-Casas and TopsPro Enterprises so that we may better meet the needs of our students while being more efficient and accurate in capturing our student data. This is a reminder that any student wishing to attend summer classes must posttest and have the approval of the site coordinator. Students interested should be advised to speak with their coordinator. Summer school assignments will be forth coming—look for them in the next week. Thanks to all who have expressed interest.

ESOL Instructor Resources
3 weeks to go... Getting ready to Post-Test! Now would be a great time to start practicing for the CASAS test using the Test Prep Unit tests, Burlington English-CASAS Practice, and/or administering the CASAS practice tests found on our google page.
Here is a website that takes some time to go through but it a good supplemental resource.

Also, after attending the Ace of Florida workshop with Neil S. on Effective teaching strategies, I would like to share a website for you to find challenging mind games for your students. I think it would be great to use right at the start of class!
