Library Receives $600 Grant for Books

The SHS Library has received a $600 grant to purchase books for students to read during Silent Sustained Reading (or anytime!). Thanks to Midwest Energy of Hays for the generous grant! We would like to get books requested by students, extra copies of our most popular titles, and the newest titles of your favorite series. If you have a suggestion, please stop by the library or email Mrs. Brownlee:

Free Ebook Resources

The library provides access to ebooks from FollettShelf and MackinVIA. These ebooks can be read from a computer, iPad, tablet, or smart phone. Links to our ebooks are available from our library web page:

Teen girl wins Nobel Peace Prize

Malala Yousafzai (pictured above), a 17-year-old girl from Pakistan, was named the winner of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize. As a spokesperson for education for girls, she was shot in the head by the Taliban and didn't let that silence her. Read more about her award at:

Destiny Quest App available

Did you know that you can search Destiny, the online library catalog, from any device with the Internet? You can search through a regular web browser at

If you have a mobile device, you can also download the Destiny Quest app and link it to our library for easy searching. The app allows you to search books in our library, view titles you have checked out and when they're due, and rate and write reviews for library books you've read.

Stop by the library to check out one of these new books! If the book you want is already checked out, we'd be glad to put a "hold" on it for you and add your name to the waiting list. When the book comes in, we'll send you an email to let you know it's ready to pick up.
