Snail Lake Update
March 24, 2020
Dear Snail Lake families,
We hope that you continue to be well!
During this week of planning, I am continually amazed at the incredible collaboration and hard work of our talented teachers at Snail Lake. I am so very proud of the ways they are rethinking teaching and learning given our short timeline and the resources available to us. Once our teachers have been able to collaborate more, I will share specifics about what you can expect as a parent during distance learning. Please know that staff are committed to creating age-appropriate and manageable plans that will further student learning during this uncertain and stressful time.
Additionally, I would like to give a few updates regarding our “drive up” supply distribution.
- There is a bag of supplies for every kindergarten student that will be used throughout distance learning.
- Please drive to your designated area and stay in your car.
- A staff member will come up to your car window and ask for your teacher’s Name and your child’s name. (Beforehand, if you are able to write these two pieces of information on a piece of paper and hold it up on the window, it will expedite the distribution process.)
- The staff member will use a walkie talkie to communicate to “runners” in the building who will gather your child’s supply bag (brown grocery bag).
- The staff member can either put the supply bag into your trunk or can hand it to you from the passenger’s side of the vehicle.
- Once your supply bag is received, please exit the parking lot onto Highway 96.
For everyone’s safety, please keep any current school-owned items, such as library books or classroom books, at home. At a later date, we will share a plan to receive these school-owned items.
If your child has medications in the health office, those medications will be included in your child’s supply bag. If you get home and a medication is missing, please call the front office at 651-621-8000.
To review, recommended pick up times are:
- Wednesday, March 25 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. for student last names A-M
- Thursday, March 26 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. for student last names N-Z
- Friday, March 27 from 8 a.m.-noon for anyone
Lastly, we are changing the location of pick up for kindergarten supplies. We will now have a pick up station near the playground on the east side of the building. This is to help support an orderly flow of traffic for parents to do pick ups for various things: early Childhood supplies, community food pick up or Kindergarten supplies. Please see the map for more details.
Thank you so much for your patience and flexibility!
In partnership,
Dr. Ryan Lang, Principal
