Coyote Connection
Volume 1, Issue 24
A Note From Mrs. McNeil
I hope you all have had a relaxing and healthy weekend. We have had another busy week at FCMS with our Junior Beta Induction, our basketball playoffs, track, baseball, and soccer practices, an Academic Challenge contest (we won!), Heart gram sales, Character Strong updates with a Kindness Video by Mr. Cook, One Book One School, celebrating our Teacher of the Year and our Support Staff of the Year, 8th grade IGPs, and taking some additional group pictures for our first ever yearbook! This week, we continue basketball playoffs for our undefeated 8th grade boys team. Get your tickets on Go Fan! We are also excited to celebrate and recognize our school counselors this week! See the picture below for our school counseling spirit days this week. We are finalizing our Coyote Club offerings and hope to have all of our students choose their clubs with a schoolwide club launch in March.
Thank you for reading this newsletter for further information.
Respectfully,
Christine V. McNeil

National School Counseling Week 2022 (#NSCW22) is Feb. 7-11, 2022, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. National School Counseling Week is always celebrated the first full week in February.
COVID Update
As we are continuing to do daily contact tracing, we are noticing that we are pulling students from classrooms who are indeed vaccinated. If your student is vaccinated, and it has been more than two weeks since the last dose that they received, we are not required to close contact quarantine them.
In order to reduce any potential loss in instructional time for your student, please submit a copy of your student's vaccination card to Nurse Howe at howen@fortmillschools.org.
We appreciate those of you who have preemptively submitted your student's vaccination card. This certainly assists in expediting the contact tracing aspect of this process.
If your student happened to test positive over the Winter break, and you have not reported it, please go ahead and report those dates to the school district here: http://fortmill.ss11.sharpschool.com/c_o_v_i_d_information. This way, if they come up as a close contact, they will be listed on our positive report and will also not be required to close contact quarantine if the positive case has been within 90 days.
