2nd Grade Distance Learning
Boulder Creek Elementary School
Week 2: May 4 - May 8
Dear Second Grade Parents,
As we all venture into virtual learning together, your Boulder Creek Second Grade Team has been working hard to make this process an easy one for you and your child. We know some things are going to work and others aren’t. We are all learning together in this process and appreciate all your patience and feedback. First, please make sure that your child can get on to their Google Classroom via their Clever page. You will want your child to check their classroom for their assignments for the week. Some assignments will be given through other programs on their Clever page, like iReady. Please let your child’s teacher know if your child cannot get on to Google Classroom as this is imperative for your child to continue to learn. Below you will see some other guidelines that we have set up and will be more understandable come Tuesday, April 14th when everything is posted to Google Classroom. We hope you can have the best Spring Break possible given the circumstances and look forward to partnering with you in this new journey. Tell your child we said hello and that we miss them!
This is how the Second Grade experience is going to work:
*Each week your child will receive a home learning log that is posted into Google Classroom. This log is to serve as a checklist for the minimum requirements for your child to get credit for distance learning.
*Along with the home learning log, your child will be assigned a document to keep track of their home reading (20 minutes) and P.E. (20 minutes) each day. We will be giving suggestions for P.E. weekly.
*Virtual learning will take place Monday - Thursday at your child’s pace. Home schooling is not like the typical school day. There are no set times unless your child’s teacher chooses to do an online meetup.
*Fridays will be teacher workdays/planning days and are reserved for parents/students catching up (as we know many parents are still working) and to make sure everything is turned into Google Classroom or whatever online program required (iReady, Accelerated Reader, GetEpic, etc.)
*We will be hosting lessons/read alouds/curriculum via video content and/or slideshow links to be viewed/accessed on your own time frame, however we have provided a suggested plan via the home learning log.
*Attendance will be kept track with the activities turned in.
*The best way to get a hold of us is through email. We will be checking this throughout the workday and you will receive a response within 24 hours. If you need to schedule a phone conference or have specific needs, contact your child's teacher to schedule a time for that.
Thank you for all your kind words of encouragement and support! As always, we appreciate you! If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out!
Sincerely,
Your Boulder Creek Second Grade Teachers
