The night ole Chicken Bridge got its name
Chickens broke loose from the Chatham chain gang
Way down yonder in the poultry plains
Chickens broke loose from the Chatham chain gang.
Farmer Campbell heading down the road
Trucking cross the bridge with a cackling load.
Ever start to wonder if a chicken can float
Trucking cross a bridge with a cackling load
Bridge fell out and the Studebacker stuck.
All of them chickens is running amuck.
Running amuck they cackle and cluck.
All of them chickens is running amuck.
Farmer Fox is flapping in the Haw
Swimming out to save his brother-in-law.
Awfullest sight that you ever saw
Swimming out to save his brother-in-law
The town folks came with the lights in hand
Chasing them chickens all ‘cross the land
The whole night long, the chickens all dance.
Chase them chickens all ‘cross the land
Get out and dance by the Chicken Bridge.
Squawk and strut like those chickens did.
The fiddle tunes fly down around the ridge.
Get out and dance by the Chicken Bridge.
