Why Paul Bunton Believes Technology is the Future of Education
Owner of BCA Architects, Paul Bunton has spent the past 25 years working with educational institutions. Paul Bunton has built more than 60 public school systems in California, bringing updated classrooms with new technology to students. Paul Bunton believes that technology is the future of education because it levels the playing field amongst students and drives them toward success.
Meeting the Needs of All Students
The first reason why Paul Bunton believes that technology is key to the future of education is because it helps schools meet the needs of all students. Paul Bunton knows that for many students, learning is more difficult due to special needs or learning disabilities. With technology in the classroom, students are able to compete on a more level playing field and have constant access to the assistance that they need.
Improving Learning Skills
In addition, Paul Bunton stresses that advanced technology helps improve learning skills. With technology, students are better able to develop problem-solving and communication skills. This enables young students to prepare themselves for not only college but also their future in the workforce.
Making Schools More Efficient
Finally, Paul Bunton asserts that advanced technology makes schools run better. With the technology that Paul Bunton implements, schools are able to better see how their students are achieving and find solutions that work to help them improve and succeed in all areas.

What Make One of Paul Bunton’s 21st Century Classrooms?
Paul Bunton believes in giving students the best possible environment in which to learn. This is why he has created his vision of a 21st century classroom. Paul Bunton and his team at BCA Architects have created a prototype of this classroom at his headquarters in San Jose, California. This classroom has a technologically advanced and non-traditional design that encourages students to be active participants in their education.
Technologically advanced classrooms include things like interactive tablets that students can use to read textbooks or do research. Many of the visions that Paul Bunton has for education involve technology like interactive projectors, LED touch screen TVs, and interactive projectors. The teacher may use an interactive white board that can pull directly from the students’ personal tablets. Students can also download the information on the whiteboard directly to their tablets. Many classrooms around the country are already implementing many of Paul Bunton’s designs into their schools. Because students are already so technologically advanced, Paul Bunton believes that we should use that to encourage the curiosity of high school students.
Classrooms following Paul Bunton’s 21st century designs do not include the traditional desk layout. The layout is more open, allowing the student to work together and collaborate on projects. This also gives the instructor a clear view of each student. There is no more hiding behind the person in front of you. Students are encouraged to participate and talk through ideas until the group has a clear understanding of the new information that is being taught.
Paul Bunton’s vision of the 21st century classroom includes more technology and more interaction between the student and the teacher. The strength of our education system is important to Paul Bunton. This is why he has spent much of the last 25 years designing and building innovative and creative learning centers all over California.
Building Communities with Paul Bunton
Hospice in Napa Valley has provided service to over 10,000 people in the last decade. When someone is facing a chronic or terminal illness, Paul Bunton has created a safe and comfortable place for them to live and receive care. During this project Paul Bunton created over 18,500 square feet of living space in a beautiful and functional Craftsman style. The eco-friendly building was wrapped in stone and stucco. This functional and beautiful design, created by Paul Bunton, is a comfortable setting for residents who are going through difficult medical situations.
The Christ Community Church at Milpitas Ministry Center is a beautiful, 50,000 square-foot Family Life Center that was created by Paul Bunton and his team at BCA Architects. This project was done in two phases. In phase one, Paul Bunton and his team created a new social hall, an area for food service, and new administrative offices for church business. In phase two, Paul Bunton completed a full gym that can be divided into three conference rooms or classrooms. In this phase, classrooms were also created for Sunday school and for the Milpitas Christian School Preschool. This expansion of the Christ Community Church was approved by the City Planning Commission and has done tremendous work in supporting the ministries in the areas. With the new structures, the Living Life and Nurturing Life ministries of the church can continue to serve the community.
Paul Bunton has made a commitment to support the local community. This commitment is evident in the care he takes in each of the phases of his designs. Whether he is designing a place where medical decisions are combined with loving care of patients, or a place where churches are able to reach out to the community, Paul Bunton is always looking for ways to improve the lives of those around him.
Community Living Projects with Paul Bunton and BCA Architects
In addition to creating spaces where churches and medical staff can attend to patrons and patients, Paul Bunton has also created many other community based architectural developments. Paul Bunton is responsible for the creative and practical designs of the Kids Korner Daycare Center and the Shasta Lake Gymnasium. These designs were created specifically to blend in with their surrounding areas, and to give the children and residents a creative place to spend their time.
The Kids Korner Daycare Center is a bright, open space for children in Mountain View, California. This 10,500 square-foot space, designed by Paul Bunton, has a large interior courtyard area for the children to play, far from the noise of traffic. The daycare facility has separate areas for infant care and for its conference room. When designing this facility, Paul Bunton made careful use of the one-acre site. He was able to include an area for a staff workroom and kitchenette. The entrance to the center is where the administrative offices have been located. Paul Bunton designed this facility with the practicality of a school in mind, as well as the safety measures that are needed when caring for young children.
The Shasta Lake Gymnasium is located in the Town of Shasta Lake. This Paul Bunton design was created to be used as a supplemental recreation facility for the local middle school. This 25,000 square-foot facility has several classrooms and a music department that is used by the middle school. Providing adequate space for children to learn is an important part of Paul Bunton’s designs. With tons of natural lighting, this facility is open to the local residents as well as the middle school students. Paul Bunton’s design includes both a full gymnasium and a snack bar.
