Dear FCE Parents,

Thank you for a great first two weeks of school! Our hearts are full seeing students smiling and excited to learn! This week was challenging with the storms coming through our area. The couple of days of storms has given us an opportunity to utilize our rainy day dismissal plans and reflect on areas of improvement.

As I shared the first week, we will continue to reflect and adjust on the processes we have in place throughout the year to improve them wherever we can. We appreciate the parents who reached out regarding our processes, offered possible solutions and shared resources we can utilize within the community. Your willingness to collaborate to find better solutions is what makes FCE the very best school it can be! We can’t do this without you and the important perspective you are able to give us. We will be taking the ideas back to our leadership teams to ensure we are looking at all options. Please submit any suggestions you may have using this Dismissal Feedback Form.

Please see the immediate adjustments we will be making starting Monday. We appreciate your patience and promise to continue to strive to continue to make Fall Creek Elementary the very best school in Humble ISD.

We are continuing to use the digital dismissal system and process that were in place last year. The only adjustment we made was switching to numbers so our staff inputting in the digital system could put numbers instead of names to speed up the process and alleviate some of the concerns teachers communicated in my initial meetings with them. We will be getting additional copies of the tags printed for us to send home.

You can help us by:

• Cutting on the dotted lines and then hanging the sign on your rearview mirror

• Writing your student’s name below the number in black marker. This will help once you get to the cone, we are not expecting students to know their numbers.

We use the accuweather app to look at the radar to see what storm cells are heading our way during our dismissal window. We also get notifications when there is lightning in our area. We will call Rainy Day Dismissal when there is lightning and thunder in the area or if there is significant rain at 2:50pm.

For Car Rider Dismissal:

• We will be contacting the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to help with the additional traffic.

• We will do a double stacked car rider line to help alleviate traffic congestion.

• We will make adjustments in the moment if needed. For example, loading fewer cars at a time if needed because it is not safe for students and staff to load 12 cars at a time. We will adjust back to 12 cars once it is safe to do so.

For Biker/Walker Dismissal:

• Your students are safe inside and will be here whenever it is safe for you to make your way to campus.

Great news! This year, FCE is expanding our list of library-sponsored clubs open to students in grades 3-5! See the graphic below for more information.

Please note:

• After school clubs dismiss at 4:30 PM. Walkers and bikers will be released from the back of the building. Car riders will be walked to the front for pick-up, but staff members will be unable to stay late for parents who are running behind.
• Applications are due by September 10th, 2021.
• For your child's safety, the number of spots in each club will be limited. Students accepted into each club will be notified by September 17th and meetings will begin during the week of September 20th.
• All club members will be sent home with information for parents to join the library's Remind 101. This tool will be used to communicate scheduling changes such as cancelled club meetings.
