Below are some tips and tricks they have for doing well on the test!

- Use the vocabulary to get a sense of what material will be on the exam, study all topics that you are not yet comfortable with, stay calm and collected, and have confidence in yourself!
- Before the test, we went on a walk and had a special breakfast to make it feel like a special day instead of a day of pressure.
- Stay focused and don't stress.

Testing
CAASPP - Each year, students participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). Your child will take the following tests, depending on their grade level or instructional program:
Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments for English language arts and math, required tests in grades 3–8 and 11
California Science Test (CAST), a required test in grades 5 and 8 and once in high school
Most students will test remotely with their HST.
CAASPP Testing is underway. Please keep a look out for an email from your HST with their planned testing schedule. Remember it’s best practice to break up the test over several days to prevent testing fatigue. We want this to be a good experience for your child and doing a little bit each day will make the whole process much easier and result in your child being able to show their best work.
CPA has a website designed especially for our parents that talks about all the assessments we give throughout the year. Parent Testing Resources Website
CPA Hosted 3 Testing Launch Meetings at which we talked a little about who take the CAASPP and why. We also provided some specific things your child can do to help reduce test anxiety. If you missed our testing launch meetings here is the recording.

Field Trips and Events
CPA - Homeschool Hub Field Trips & Events (FTE)
Important change: Due to state testing, we will not be offering field trips for April. Field trips will resume in May.
This will allow our families sufficient time to register for field trips before the Enrichment ordering deadline in April.
REMINDERS:
Chaperones for school-organized field trips are limited to one per family.
Please do not book additional adults/chaperones using the non-enrolled sibling ticket option.
Depending on the field trip venue, it may be possible to purchase a general admission ticket for additional adults/chaperones. However, any independently purchased tickets are separate from the field trip.
Many field trip venues require us to enter as a single group. To ensure the best experience for everyone, please plan to arrive at least 15-30 minutes early to allow sufficient time for unexpected traffic, parking, and checking-in.
If you’re running late (no more than 5 minutes), it is crucial to call and let us know.
We will do our best to try and accommodate you, but we cannot guarantee you will be able to join late.
If you’re unable to attend a scheduled trip, please call or email us prior to the trip so we can update our attendee lists accordingly.
PHONE: (619) 782-6464 ext. 2278 or 2337

Homeschooling Advice
RELAX! IT’S HOMESCHOOL!
So many people want to do homeschool and then try to COPY the public school system. Sometimes they just try to replicate the education they had. Some people even go as far as getting real school desks!
Now I’m not going to sit here and say this is wrong. Quite frankly it might work for some people. But if you are trying to copy everything the public school system is doing, then you are missing the point.
Homeschooling is NOT about doing public school at home. Then what is homeschool about then?
It’s about:
*Finding your child’s unique learning style and using that to teach them
*Fostering a love of learning
*Teaching independent learning so they can continue learning on their own when they are adults
*Going at your child’s own pace
I witnessed a woman complaining about her 4 year old not wanting to do handwriting lessons. Well the child is 4 years old so he might not want to learn to write yet or he simply might not be ready. Sure some preschool kids can write, but the beauty of being the teacher is that you can........keep reading here.

Hi, I am a Mother of 4 sons, and grandma of 3 little ones. I learned about homeschooling about 5 years ago and I loved the whole concept. I homeschooled my youngest son and he loved it! I wish I had known this way of teaching when my other sons were little. I love helping families to thrive, and be successful! I am here to help you in any way I can.
