AEHS Weekly Newsletter
October 15, 2023
Good evening, Titans.
I hope everyone had a great weekend. I want to start by saying "THANK YOU" our PTSA for hosting and organizing the AEHS College Fair last week. This was the first college fair we have been able to hold at AEHS since returning to school from the pandemic. We had roughly 80 colleges and universities and trade schools in attendance Tuesday, and hundreds of students and families who took advantage of this event. Thank you also to Ms. Gordon, for working with the PTSA to ensure this event was a hit.
This week is National School Bus Safety Week. I want to encourage you to show your appreciation to our transportation staff this week and in the future. From my perspective, too often do we take for granted the responsibility of bus operators transporting our precious cargo (children) to and from school each day, and too often fail to understand the role our drivers play in helping to start our students' day off on the right foot. Again, when you have a moment, please show your thanks and support for our bus operators.
Finally, we will have our AEHS Open House for our current AEHS families Tuesday, October 17. Please see below for additional information.
Have a great week!
Mark Brown, Jr.
Principal

Converting from Air Conditioning to Heat (NEW)

Unlike residential systems, most of our schools cannot switch automatically from air conditioning to heating because the same piping is used for heating and cooling. Air conditioning will not be available after the changeover process begins. Preventive maintenance technicians and specialists will be available to assist mechanics as needed during the conversion process.
Important Dates:
Air conditioning will be turned off and heat will be made available at your school between October 16 and November 4, 2023, depending on weather conditions. It will take approximately three weeks to convert all MCPS facilities. We will make every effort to ensure that the semiannual changeover takes place with as little inconvenience as possible.

Intro of New College and Career Information Coordinator (CCIC) - (REPEAT)
As you might now, we recently hired a new CCIC as Ms. Moloney-Johnson was recently promoted. I would like to introduce you to Mr. Edgar Trigo, who will be joining our staff beginning Monday, October 9. Below is a message from Mr. Trigo...
Throughout the years I have overcome difficult hardships and advanced professionally. I am a young, bilingual (English and Spanish) educator with a passion for assisting young people navigate the college and career process, as I did in my previous work at the University of Maryland. All of my life experience both in and out of college have prepared me to work as the CCIC at Albert Einstein High School.
My vision is to inspire students to bring out the best in them, while helping them prepare for life after high school. I am excited to work with all the students, staff, and stakeholders at AEHS and to help form students' success.
