Lead Learner Highlights
We have had another wonderful week. Last night, the 7th-grade musicians did a wonderful job at the concert and enjoyed cookies and cocoa afterward. I always love seeing students and families socializing as part of school event. Today students learned about Human Rights Day (recognized on Sunday, Dec. 10) during their morning advisory time. I was delighted to see so many students in their pajamas in solidarity with the brave children in CT who are in treatment for cancer and serious illnesses at CCMC. I heard that currently, WHPS is the second highest donating district in the state to this cause. We'll report out on KP's giving next week. As we think about how we can Be The One to show empathy, I am so proud that each our teams and the main office have adopted a family from the West Hartford Community. Thank you for what you are doing as well to help these 10 families have a wonderful holiday.
On Monday we will be 10 days away from Holiday Break. The time is flying. Wednesday, the 13th, marks the midpoint for the second quarter. The Unified Arts rotation ends on December 18th. Please check-in with your child about their progress. Ask your child about how they are progressing on the goals they discussed at the student-led conference. Encourage your child to set up time with their teacher if they have questions or concerns about past or upcoming assignments.
Next week, we'll start with a Principal's Coffee at 9:00 am. This is an opportunity for you to share your thoughts about KPs glow and grow areas and to ask any questions in a more intimate setting. Be sure to support KP at the Moe's Restaurant Night on Wednesday, Dec. 13th between 4pm-9pm. Just be sure to mention KP and spread the word to all of your friends. This is sponsored by our PTO.

"Public Act 16-189
We believe that it is vital for all students in West Hartford Public Schools to be able to efficiently and effectively use digital tools that empower them in all phases of the learning process, including research, problem solving, content creation, communication, and collaboration. We also believe that we must be committed at all times to protecting students' privacy and providing them with a powerful and safe educational experience. To that end, the West Hartford Public Schools follow the legal requirements of Public Act 16-189 to promote the safety and security of all students and staff.
In compliance with Connecticut State Law, we update online programs used within the district that house student data. The programs may be used district-wide, in a very small number of classrooms, or with individual students. The list will be updated each time the district enters into a new contract where student data is housed. For more information on the specifics of Public Act 16-189 and updates of vendor agreements, visit www.whps.org/pa189."
