An Abrahamic Religion

Muslims are strict monotheists (single all powerful God). They believe in the Judeo-Christian God, they call him Allah. Muslims Believe that the Torah (5 books of moses) and the Bible is the word of God. Muhammad is the founder of this religion.

Basic Practices

The Sacred Text

The sacred text is called the Qur'an. Muslims believe it contains the word of God. It has 114 suras (chapters). Muhammad's revelations were complied into the Quaran after his death.

Facts

1-They say the Shahada is the the declaration of faith

2-They say mandatory prayers 5 times a day: dawn, noon, late afternoon, sunset, before going to bed. They wash before praying, Face Mecca and use a prayer rug. On Friday they pray in the mosque.

3-Fast during the holy month of ramadan. Considered a method of self-purification. No eating of drinking from sunrise to sunset during Ramadan.

4- 2-3 million muslims make the pilgrimage every year. Those who complete the pilgrimage can add the title Hajji to their name.

What Islam believes

~They believe when they die they will either go into a paradise of hell.

~They believe in prophets

~They believe in predestination
