School Site Council Representatives Needed

We are in need of two parents (or community members) to serve in the position of school site council member. The school site council oversees the implementation of our Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) which uses federal funds to support school learning activities.

This is a great way to learn more about our school and be part of important decision making. Please contact our principal Michele Krantz at for more information, questions, or your willingness to serve. If we have more than two candidates we will hold an election.

PAC Needs a Treasurer

We are in desperate need of a parent to serve as the treasurer for our Parent Advisory Council. The commitment includes one meeting a month and email communication periodically. Please consider serving in this very important position. Contact our PAC President Analiza Bernat by email at

PAC Meeting November 13th

Our next PAC meeting is on November 13th. We will be talking school safety, a topic everyone is interested in. Come and share your questions, concerns and learn how the school will support kids in cases of emergency. Kids are welcome too. We will also have a Spanish interpreter.

We have moved the start time to 6:30 (5:30 if you want o be part of the business meeting with the executive board) to hopefully make the meeting more accessible to people.

Healthy Choices Parent Information Nights -7th Grade Families THIS MONDAY at La Mesa

Two dates left to learn about the curriculum. The Healthy Choices comprehensive sexual education and HIV/AIDS prevention curriculum is state-mandated curriculum that includes topics such as pregnancy, relationships, human trafficking, body image, sexual orientation and AIDS and HIV information. The curriculum is taught through our PE and science classes in the spring to all 7th-grade students.

To help parents support the discussion happening in class, we provide an evening to present the curriculum to parents. Because this is district curriculum it is the same at all schools. Below are the dates of the principal led presentation at each of the school sites in the district.

La Mesa November 4th 6:30 pm in the Library

Placerita November 7th 6:30 pm in the MPR (Tanner Hall)

Here is a link to the videos that are shown in the classroom:

Parents also have the right to opt their child out of parts or the entire presentation of this curriculum. That form is available HERE. We encourage you to attend one of the presentations before deciding to opt your child out.

Thanksgiving Break: No School November 25-29

As a reminder, this year we have a full week off at Thanksgiving.
