News From Room 211
Dear Families,
Welcome to the fourth and final quarter of third grade. Students have worked very hard this year and I'm proud of them all!
Fractions on a number line have been a struggle for some students, and we will continue using that tool to compare fractions through the end of the year. We will wrap up fractions in the next couple of weeks and then begin reviewing for the End of Year test. We've already started reviewing for the reading EOY. I do ask students to write how they solve all math problems, and highlight where they find the answers or clues to answers in their reading passages. The reading test is designed so students must reread and the math test is also designed for students to work more carefully and do less mental math. Writing to solve problems and highlighting not only force students to work more carefully, but are extremely helpful test taking strategies.
Tomorrow, April 12, third grade has a wonderful opportunity to work with a published author and poet, Jane Clarke. We are tremendously excited!
Thanks, again for all your support.
Sincerely,
Holly Gregg
