March 2014
March is full of FUN! We will celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss and World Read Aloud Day. Our author visit, Matthew Holm, is on March 25, so there will be a lot of activities going on to get ready for his visit and, of course, we are here all month long to help you with WHATEVER you need! Just let us know!

Author Visit!
We are excited to announce that this year's author visit is Matthew Holm! Holm is the co-author and illustrator of the Babymouse and Squish graphic novels. These books are great for all ages and a wonderful way to introduce comic books and comic book writing in your classroom. We have many of his books in our Learning Commons (they are always checked out though!). You can certainly get the books from a local book store, Amazon.com, or your public library. I bet many of your students already read and LOVE Babymouse and Squish - so, get ready for an exciting visit! There will be books available for purchase the day of his visit. Matthew Holm will be at NPES on Tuesday, March 25. Check out the Babymouse website (http://www.randomhouse.com/kids/babymouse/ ) and Matthew Holm's website (http://www.matthewholm.net/) for more information!
Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

This is a week where we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss! Here are some things we are doing in the Learning Commons to celebrate and some resources you can use in your classroom!
MONDAY
Kindergarten will have a READ-A-THON in the Learning Commons at 8:30am. We are going to try to read 100 books in 100 minutes in honor of Dr. Seuss!
WEDNESDAY
Special guest readers will come to NPES 8:30am – 11am to visit classrooms and read. This is in honor of Dr. Seuss, but also to celebrate WORLD READ ALOUD DAY!
ALL WEEK
Kindergarten students will be learning about Dr. Seuss and exploring Seuss-themed centers throughout the work during Related Arts.
There will be different activities set up that ALL students can explore when visiting the Learning Commons for checkout.
