Growing with STEM in Fourth Grade
News
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! We will be having our class party on Friday, February 12 from 1:30–2:45. There will be delicious treats for the students. Students are encouraged to decorate a Valentine’s box. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: most creative, most festive, and most STEM inspired.
We will be sharing Valentines. Please have your child address a Valentine for each person in his/her class, as well as one for any other special friends at our school. Student names for homerooms were provided on the letter sent home on pink paper. If your student needs another copy, they may ask their homeroom teacher.
We are also asking that each child bring one dollar to contribute towards ice cream treats and water bottles.
Remember, parents are always welcome to attend the party and share in the fun. If you know for sure that you’d like to attend and/or help out, please contact:

Benchmark Testing
Scholars completed a Writing STAAR Benchmark test on Tuesday of last week. Our scholars will continue their testing this week. They will take a Math STAAR Benchmark on Monday and a Reading STAAR Benchmark on Tuesday. You can support your child's learning by maintaining a scheduled bed time, setting aside time for your child to complete homework, viewing and discussing ongoing work on your student's iPad, and establishing a routine to support a healthy balance of school and family time. Thank you for your support!

At each of these Principal's Coffees, parents are invited to attend, in order to hear updates about GCISD & Cannon Elementary and learn information that has a direct impact on our school community! I am really looking forward to these informal opportunities to share important information with families and engage in conversation with you about ways to improve our school!
