Turn the Annoyances into Possibilities!
Think about a student who pushes your buttons, start thinking about the habit/behavior/trait he/she has that bothers you, turn it into a possibility. How can the student harness that behavior into something amazing? Share your ideas with your team(s). If you get stuck on how to turn the behavior around, talk with your team. Brainstorm together. Let's start looking at our students differently-look at all of the possibilities.
My experience with this was amazing. On Wednesday night after I saw this video, it changed my entire thinking about numerous interactions I had with a student this week. She was refusing to participate in class, and in all honesty, I was incredibly frustrated and almost defeated. However, one thing you will learn about me is I never give up! After this video, I started to think differently. How could I take her stubbornness and turn it into determination for something good? How could I take her from seeing herself as worthless to someone who could help others and make a difference? Well, I figured it out! And now I'm so excited to see what happens for her and everyone else involved.

Staff Meeting
Agenda:
This week's staff meeting will be focusing on the Warhawk Way. We have included the link, so you can see our schedule for October. We don't anticipate any changes for the next few weeks.Questions:
A suggestion from our feedback survey was to give time for the staff to ask questions. In order to do this and make the most of our time together, we have created a doc called Wilson Wants to Know. It is a parking lot for you and your teams to add questions that you think are for the good of the group. As questions come up, we will start to address them in staff meetings or by email depending on the content. This document can also be found in our Wilson Middle School Resources Drive
What if I miss a Meeting?
If you miss a staff meeting, just know we are adding our agenda w/notes or slide shows w/notes from the meetings to the Wilson Middle School Resources Drive. In this drive you will find a folder called Staff Meetings. This way everyone will stay in the loop. If you ever have questions if you are absent, please reach out to us.
Team Reminders
- Most grade levels are meeting as a team once/week, but we really have not discussed the purpose for that time. So, if you are finding value in it, great! If not, please use that meeting day for another content or house team collaboration session.
- If you don't like your agenda's format, take time as a team to make it more functional for the team (Just make sure the Must Haves are included).
- Add your team agenda(s) to the Wilson Middle School Resources Shared Drive (Go to the Wilson Team Meetings Folder, then in the PLCs Agendas Folder).
- Make sure your teams' meeting times are correct, so we know when and where your teams are meeting each week. (This is also in the Shared Drive, Team Meetings Folder) Meeting Times Doc
- Please make sure these updates are completed by all teams by this week Friday, Oct. 11th. Thanks!
Second Round of Camp
Weekly Gratitudes
- When dealing with a difficult situation, Stan was amazing with a student. The student turned to him and said, "I'm really sorry Mr. M." and Stan, even though he went through a really tough situation, looked at him and replied, "It's okay. No matter what you do, I'm always going to be here." It was exactly what the student needed to hear.
- We both had some really great meetings this week, and we appreciated the openness and honesty from individuals. Staff were willing to take the risk and be vulnerable, and because of that we were able to get down to the bottom of where they were coming from and what they needed.
Dumpster Pete's gratitude is the amazing home he's been given. He's been showered with love-bugs, a hammock, new cage, drawings, and more! It's great to see he is so loved and cared for!
