Counselor Appreciation Week
If you want to know more about contacting Mrs. Decker and/or Mrs. Naugle for support, check out the Help Wanted article below!
Help Wanted??
Got a personal issue that you want to process? Need some advice from a caring adult? If you need help from a teacher, counselor, or administrator, don't forget that there are two easy ways to communicate. Any time you are in a personal or school bind, get connected!
- Face-to-Face- Getting attention from a teacher or counselor can be tricky, especially if it is personal. Every day there are some moments of opportunity for you to connect with a staff member such as end of class, passing period, independent work time, on the way to lunch, etc. If you need to ask a question about academics or seek personal advice, you can connect with a staff member during one of these moments of opportunity. If you need to speak to a counselor or administrator, you can swing by the office before school or during passing time. If the person you are seeking is not available, you can complete an appointment request form.
- Digital- If you don't want to or need to have face-to-face communication, you can use Canvas to communicate with any staff member. Open your Canvas Inbox, select Community as your course, and start typing in the first name of the staffer with which you want to communicate. This will trigger the full staff member name. Select the staff member and use the text box to send your confidential message. Canvas Inbox is not part of our filter system so you can speak openly and honestly with a staff member. Once you hit send, the staff member will receive an email notification that a message has been sent.
It is very important to remember that urgent messages such as
- It's 2:40 and I don't know what bus to ride,
- I saw a student give another student a pill, or
- A friend just said he was going to hurt himself should never be shared in Canvas.
BB/BS PJ Pants Day Tuesday
Ag Week Poster Contest
Blank poster paper is available in the SMS office. Pick one up if you would like to share a design with a positive message about agriculture. Return your poster (with your name on the back) to the office by February 24th. The SHS FFA club will award a $10 McDonald's gift card to the best entries from each grade.
S.P.O.V.
Each meeting will have a different focus based on the ideas that people bring this week. We hope to address challenges and find unique ways to make this school a better place. More will be explained at the initial meeting. Please consider joining this club. Bring your friends. Share your thoughts. Your opinions count. Think of all we can do as a team! If you have any questions, see Haley, Emily, or Mrs. Lohr.
