This Week at Common Ground
December 7th - December 13th!
The Winter Festival is this Saturday, December 12th from 9:30am - 2:30pm!
All are welcome to this fun community celebration! Admission to the event is free.
- There will be a craft fair featuring local vendors selling handmade wares
- A bake sale with goods for purchase to eat or take home
- A holiday-themed tag sale
- Lunch will be available for purchase
- Our annual wreath making activity is open to all ages- $8 per wreath
- And children's activities

Winter Festival
Celebrate nature’s ornaments with a beautiful wreath made from fresh greens, vines, pinecones, and other natural materials from the farm and forest. Hot cider will be provided- food will be for sale at the event. Wreath or swag: $8, all tools, materials, and instructions provided. 10AM -2PM.
Craft Fair, Bake Sale & Tag Sale
to benefit Common Ground High School, organized by our parents
All Common Ground’s classrooms will be full with local artisans & crafters of all kinds. There will be handmade jewelry, clothing, ornaments, keepsakes and more! There will be a tag sale offering a fun array of holiday items. In addition, there will be baked goods and food for purchase to enjoy while you’re at the festival or to take home. There will also be an area for children’s activities, so please bring the family!

Winter Home School Adventures
- Tuesday, December 15: Fiber Arts
- Wednesday, January 6: Cooking & Nature
- Wednesday, February 17: Winter Survival
- Wednesday, March 9: Maple Sugaring
Who: Children ages 3 and up with a parent or caregiver (no drop-off option available for winter classes). Program fee: $15 for the first child ages 3 and up, $10 for each additional child (ages 3 and up). No charge for children ages 2 and under who are attending with a sibling.

Intro to Gardening Workshops
Join Rachel Ziesk, Advanced Master Gardener, for a series of classes that will cover everything you need to be a successful gardener come Spring 2016!
This series is being co-hosted by Common Ground and Neighborhood Housing Services with support from the USDA Risk Management Agency, UCONN, and the CT Dept. of Agriculture.

- January 30: Cool Weather Crops
- February 13: Warm Weather Crops
- February 27: Container Gardening & Seed Starting
- March 12: Edible Landscaping & Edible/Invasive Weeds
- March 26: Pests, Disease & Organic Controls
Note: Discounts may be available. If you'd like to inquire, please call 203-562-0598. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
If you'd like to pay for the workshop(s) in person, you may bring a check or money order to Norma Pantoja at Neighborhood Housing Services (333 Sherman Avenue, New Haven) before the date of the class.
