Message from your Administrative Team
There are many events, student achievements and school life moments to share this spring as we head into the final few months of school. Images in this newsletter capture a snapshot of our students and their experiences and our pride in them as they represent Lancaster spirit and the diverse talents of our school community.
We are excited to be working with Parent Council using funds from our PRO (Parents Reaching Out) grant to bring two events that promote physical literacy and parent/family engagement to our community before the end of the year. On Friday May 10th we will be hosting a Lancaster Family Skate at the Invista Center from 6:00-7:00. We look forward to seeing our families there to enjoy some time on the ice together. Our second event will be on Friday, June 14th at the Caraco track for a Family Fit and Fun Night. We have secured the track and field from 6:00-8:00 and will be hosting a variety of activities for our families to enjoy together. Stay tuned and save the date...more details to come!
The traffic and parking project planning has continued this winter and is projected to take place over the summer months. Another public meeting will be held with the City of Kingston that parents are welcome to attend to provide input or gain additional understanding of the details of the project. This meeting will also address the addition of a curb on the north side of Lancaster Drive across from both Mother Teresa C.S. and Lancaster P.S. Facility Services from the LDSB has also conducted a camera investigation of the pipes and drainage system on Lancaster property to explore existing drainage issues. Some pipe blockages and breaks were found through this investigation. Current plans in conjunction with the traffic project include addressing some of these findings as well as the addition of a fenced barrier between the parking lot and the playground at the rear of the school. Continued efforts to increase the conditions of our playground and student safety. Further information about plans for student arrival next fall will be shared with our school community in the next few months as plans are finalized.
Our staff and students are gearing up for an active few months full of continued learning and a focus on student growth. Thank you to our parent community for your support through attendance on school trips, donations of time or items for classroom projects, driving to sporting events, and general support of your child's academic, social and individual growth and development. We look forward to seeing you at some of our spring events, including our Volunteer breakfast on Wednesday, June 12th, over the remaining weeks of 2019-20.

Inspiring Lion Hearts! đŚâĽď¸đŚ
Hey Lancaster Lions! Have you ever felt like youâd like to make a positive difference in your community, but youâre not sure where to start?
Well, our Ministry of Caring is here to help. We are launching the first ever 100 + Lancaster Kids Who Care campaign, where together we will make a difference and raise money for a worthy local charity.
How does it work?
The campaign is open to any student at Lancaster, from Kindergarten to Grade 8. We are aiming to have 100 kids sign up, but with the generosity and enthusiasm of our students, we may get even more! If you sign up, you agree to raise $10 to donate. The Ministry of Caring wants to encourage you to develop a spirit of giving back yourself, which means that this is money that you have to earn. Please donât simply ask your parents for $10 to donate. Helping your parents or grandparents with a special project for the $10, donating some of your birthday money, setting aside part of your allowance, offering to rake leaves/tidy up the yard for neighbours, running a lemonade stand, etc. are all ideas to raise your $10.
For every $10 raised and donated, you will get one vote on who you think should be the winning charity. Your choices of charities are: The Happy Soul Project, The Kingston Youth Shelter, Kingston 4 Paws Service Dogs, The Canadian Mental Health Association, and The Centre for Abuse and Trauma; as seen on the video in your classroom. All very deserving charities, so we encourage you to make an informed decision on the charity of your choice; so do some additional research and see which one you have a passion for.
