Travel and arriving

HOW TO GET TO LORCA?

FROM ALICANTE AIRPORT

Option 1:

Take a shuttle bus just in the exit gate of the airport to Alicante city. There are buses every 20 minutes aprox. Get off in "Avda. Salamanca" bus stop. Train station is just in front of the bus stop. Ticket costs 3,85 EUR. From the Alicante train station take a train to Lorca (5,70 EUR). There are 2 train stops in Lorca. If you book a place in Hotel Felix, get off in "San Diego" bus stop, the first one in Lorca. If you book a place in Hotel Alameda or Jardines de Lorca you should get off in Sutullena train stop (the second one).

Option 2:
Take a bus from the station just in front of the airport to Murcia: there are buses every 2 hours from 7:15 to 21:15 – the trip takes 1 hour and 45 minutes and costs around 6€.
Once in Murcia go from the bus station to the train station by bus no.26A.
Then take a train from Murcia to Lorca Sutullena (it is the second station of Lorca coming from Murcia): there are trains every hour from 7:45 to 22:05 – the trip takes one hour and costs around 6€ or you can take a bus from the bus station of Murcia and it will bring you to bus station, which is next to the train station(Lorca Sutullena).
If you want to check the schedule go to www.renfe.es, then Cercanias: Murcia/Alicante

Option 3:
If your landing time does not permit you to catch any of the busses to Murcia you can:
Take a taxi from the airport to Torrellano train station – the taxis are in front of the airport at the lowest level – the trip takes about 10min max and costs around 10€.

From Torrellano take a train to Murcia and from Murcia to Lorca – you will buy your ticket from the automat in the station directly to Lorca Sutullena (it is the second station of Lorca comming from Murcia) – and then when you change the train in Murcia - you don´t need to buy another ticket.
If you want to check the schedule go to www.renfe.es, then Cercanias: Murcia/Alicante.

The ticket costs between €38 and €47. To check actual train schedule go to www.renfe.es. If you decide to travel by train, we advise you to buy the ticket in advance (online) as the Madrid-Murcia connection is very popular and trains are usually full!

MEALS

We will provide and cover coffee, snacks and light dinner on December 5th during the meeting.

We will be happy to have lunch and dinner together both on December 6th and 7th, but of course everybody is free to organize their own programme for the meals. Prices depend on what you drink and eat (and where), but lunch /dinner (in Hotel Félix i.e.) would normally be 10 EUR. Depending on the reporting system of each partner, we can make arrangements, so that those that need separate receipt for food, could get it.

Some useful information

December in Murcia is usually cold with temperatures between 5 to 15 degrees . But it doesn't mean that we cannot enjoy some "beachy" or suffer "arctic" days in December (exceptions possible anytime in both directions).

Spain is relatively cheap, compared to other EU countries. Depends on what you buy and where, but generally you take a coffee on the street for 1,20 euro, you could eat a burger or kebab for 3.50 EUR. Ticket for the city transport (one journey) is around 1 EUR.

For those interesting in sightseeing, we will give more information on spot.

Emergency number in Spain is like in EU – 112.
