A Message from the 7th Grade Teachers - Field Trip to Treetop Adventures
The 7th Grade teachers have planned an exciting team-building field trip to Treetop Adventures in Canton this Fall. All students in grade 7 will have the opportunity to attend this field trip with each of their teams (Yellow 7 Team - Sep 24, Green 7 Team - Oct 1, and White 7 Team - Oct 21).
TreeTop Adventures is a ropes obstacle course consisting of 10 trails ranging in difficulty from beginner to expert and consist of obstacles like rolling logs, bridges, ladders, tight ropes, and zip-lines. Every age and fitness level will find trails that are both challenging and fun. The experience is safe, fun and most importantly exciting!
Students must register on Family ID. The link to Family ID can be found under the "Teams" tab on the KPMS website (please go to your child's team). Payment for the field trip can be made through the Family ID website or by check.
Everyone needs a waiver. All students need a liability waiver fully completed and signed in order to participate. The link to complete for each team is also on the team page next to the Family ID link.
Other Items:
- Students need to bring a bagged lunch.
- Sneakers are highly recommended.
- Wear comfortable clothing.
- The bus will leave KPMS at 8:00 AM and will return by 1:45 PM.
A separate communication will be sent out to all families with information about the KPMS permission slip and payment, as well as the TreeTop Adventures waiver link. We are looking forward to a great experience on this field trip and an exciting year ahead!
Tweens, Teens, and Vaping
A major challenge that schools have faced in the past year is the youth vaping epidemic. It is important to realize that even though KPMS is a very safe school, our children are not immune to this epidemic. Youth vaping poses a serious public health crisis for our children and we want you to be aware of the latest and most accurate information to support your family and our community.
In an effort to proactively confront the youth vaping epidemic, we are asking parents and families to have conversations with their children around the hazards of vaping and “JUULing”. The State has put together an informative new website with the latest information about the dangers of vaping, helpful tips on how to talk with your children, resources to help quit, and other resources for schools:
http://makesmokinghistory.org/dangers-of-vaping/
For a more specific review of the JUUL, the world’s most popular vaping device, we encourage you to visit the Tobacco Free Kids website:
https://www.tobaccofreekids.org/assets/factsheets/0394.pdf
As always, thank you for the privilege of educating your children. We look forward to working with you throughout the year to support your child’s growth and education.
An Important Message from the Nurse's Office
The TDAP and the 2nd Chicken Pox booster (Varivax) are the two vaccines necessary to enter Grade 7, as well as all previous immunizations from prior school years. Updated immunization forms may be faxed to our health office at 508-298-0203 by a parent/guardian or their child's pediatrician. If we do not have an immunization record on file, it may place us in a position where we may need to exclude your child until the appropriate documentation is provided.
