Donuts with Someone Special

There was a great turnout for our 2016 Donuts with Someone Special Day on February 4th. Students had some quality time with their "special someone." We would like to thank the Cheltenham PTO for sponsoring this event. We are already thinking about how to make the event even more special next year.

Room 15 Performs "It's Too Noisy!"

It’s Too Noisy

This is a first grade music project that explored the sounds of a busy house.

When the farmer was challenged by the noise he went to the wise man and was told to bring animals in the house. This is an example of an accumulative story, layering sounds as the story evolves. The concept for this music lesson was to explore sound and silence, the beginning of beat and rest, Music and silence, two very important components and concepts which first graders explore through the developmental process of music.

Room 15 shared their performance of the story with their families on February 4 in Music room 2 where the room was set up as a stage. The scene was in the inside of the house and the animals entered throughout the story as the farmer went to the wise man.

We would like to thank Mrs. Przybylowski and Ms. Brown for their support in sharing this fun and educational story with their students and families.

Support our Food Drive!

Our annual food drive for the Berachah Church Food Pantry is currently in full swing, and it will continue until the end of May 2016. Last year we collected over 1,000 food items. The clients being served by the pantry keeps growing. However, funding and food items are static. With your help, dedication, and enthusiasm we can match or surpass the amount of food items collected last year. This is a great opportunity to give back to our community. It is also a time for us to give thanks for our blessings and share with those who truly need our help. Thank you in advance for your continued support and generosity. CES is a community that cares.

Mental Health First Aid is the help offered to a young person experiencing a mental health challenge, mental disorder, or mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate help is received or until the crisis resolves.

The objectives of the training are as follows:

  2. To recognize the warning signs of mental health problems that may impact youth, primarily those aged 12-18.
  3. To understand the risk and protective factors that can impact a youth’s mental health and resiliency.
  4. To apply a five-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources and knowledge to assess the situation; to select and implement appropriate interventions; and to help the youth in crisis connect with appropriate, evidence-based treatment and supports.
