Message from the Principal 2/10/2022

On behalf of the entire Hollydale Community I would like to thank our counselor, Mrs. Fitch, for all the important work she does for us!

Mrs. Fitch works with students in classrooms, small groups, and as individuals. The support she gives to students with school situations, home life, and with friends is such important work! We appreciate all she does for us and our community.

Random Act of Kindness Week

Next week is Random Act Of Kindness Week. This is a wonderful opportunity for kids to learn about how simple kindnesses can help create inclusive spaces, increase good feelings, and support a culture of positivity. We will be encouraging students to think about ways they can be kind to others not only next week, but always. Even small kindnesses, like opening a door for someone, giving someone a compliment, or helping with a chore at home, can brighten someone's day. If your child does a kindness for someone during the week, they can write about it on a paper heart at school, and we'll put all the hearts up in the hallway. If you want to do some kindness activities at home, you can check out the website below for lots of good information and ideas. As always, let me know if you have any questions or need any support with your student.

Speed Racers Returns to Hollydale Monday, February 14!!

We are excited to announce that after a long absence we will be restarting the Speed Racers program at lunch recess! This is an opportunity for students at ALL grade levels to walk or run laps on the paved track during their lunch recess and earn rewards for completing miles. Rewards include foot-shaped charms to wear on a lanyard or bracelet, stickers, pencils, water bottles, and T-shirts — just to name a few.

We need your help! Please email Julie Melton at melton10@gresham.k12.or.us if would like to volunteer or have any questions.

  • Volunteers are needed at least one day per week from 11am - 1pm during lunch recess to tally cards as students run/walk laps around the track. Our goal is to offer this recess option to students 5 days per week!
  • Volunteers can work in a two-person team.
  • There may also be the option to work on some of the prep at home.
  • We will be supplying all of the materials, prepped and ready to go at 10:50am at the office window in the vestibule.

Recess Start Time (Each lunch recess is 20 minutes - Pick up supplies at 10:50am)

First Grade 11am

Kindy 11:20am

Third Grade 11:40am

Second Grade 12pm

Fifth Grade 12:20pm

Fourth Grade 12:40pm

All volunteers must have a current, cleared, volunteer application on file with the school district and provide proof of vaccination. Please apply or renew your application: Click Here to Apply to Volunteer. Please note that it can take a couple of weeks for your application to be fully processed.

We will have a brief volunteer orientation next week. More information will be emailed soon.

Diaper Drive for the Community

Our third-grade classes will be holding a Diaper Drive at Hollydale, February 14-28th. If you are able to please send a donation of diapers or wipes to school, that would be great! Donations can also be dropped off in the office between 10am - 1pm daily. They will be donated to PDX Diaper Bank for distribution.
