Weekly News & Notes
Updates from UHS: April 1, 2022
Brief Updates
1. Grade 8 students completed ELA MCAS this week. We appreciate the effort of the students most importantly, but also the immense coordination from our staff and Mr. Bertrand to ensure that these sessions went smoothly. When we get the results this summer, we will use them to help guide instruction and curriculum moving forward.
2. Our school counseling and administrative team had the good fortune of attending Thursday's Blackstone Valley Ed Foundation Employment & Education Conference, held at Pleasant Valley Country Club. The keynote and theme of the workshop centered on redefining the school and employment ecosystem, and it was quite validating to hear that many of the steps UHS has been taking to ensure college and career readiness were highlighted.
3. Parents of Seniors: be on the lookout for information regarding senior week and a letter from us detailing some of the information regarding the end-of-year events. In addition, scholarship information was shared earlier this week.
4. Our School Counseling team worked with grade 8 students on Course Selection this week, as well as administering the social-emotional assessment that we use to help identify supports for students. We have been working on identifying needs for student emotional support throughout the year, which includes everything from sporadic or scheduled check-ins to more deliberately facilitated groups. Families who have questions can reach out to Ms. Ciccone, Ms. Tobin, or Ms. Lynch, or to the student's school counselor, Ms. Smith, Ms. Toto, or Mr. Coppolino.
Spring Fling Dance
Our Student Council is sponsoring the "Spring Fling," next Saturday, 4/9 from 7-10 in the gym. Attire is semi-formal. Tickets are $10 each and will be sold during all lunches next week and after school on Friday. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Guest forms are due by Tuesday, April 5.
Next week is also a Spirit Week! Here are the themes for the days:
Monday: Twin/Triplet/Quadruplet day (find one person or a group to dress the same as for the day)
Tuesday: Adam Sandler Day (choose your favorite Adam Sandler character and dress like him)
Wednesday: Ski Day (wear your ski attire)
Thursday: Anything but a Backpack Day (just as it sounds...how else can you carry your things to school??)
Friday: Spirit Day (wear your orange and black to show your school spirit)
We look forward to seeing all of the school spirit next week!

From Uxbridge Recreation
"Uxbridge Residents for Recreation" has a goal of increasing efforts towards developing a Recreation Department within the Town of Uxbridge.
