Band Camp Reminders
A couple of reminders for band camp as well as some things you may need to get:
- Bring a water bottle every day. There will be coolers filled with water that you can use to refill your water bottle throughout rehearsals.
- Wear sunscreen. This isn't your chance to work on your tan. You don't want to get a bad burn on the first day and then be in pain for the rest of camp.
- Bring hats and/or sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun. TMB Sunglasses are only $5 a pair. :-)
- Dress for the weather. It will most likely be hot for band camp and we will be outside. Wear comfortable, lightweight clothing that will keep you cool. School dress code does still apply.
- Wear gym shoes. No sandals or flip flops.
- Wind players, you will need a lyre and flip folder. You can purchase these at The Music Shoppe or online. If you ordered one on the merchandise form, we'll have them for the first day of camp.
- Print out your music for band camp. You will need everything that is currently in the Google classroom. If you need copies, feel free to email Ms. Peterik at speterik@usd116.org or Mrs. Fernsberg at cfernsberg@usd116.org.
- Bring your instrument or equipment to every session. Percussion can be stored on the trailer. Kristi will let color guard know where to store their stuff. We will talk about where to store bigger instruments on the first day.
- Everyone will need a set of spiral bound note cards. We would suggest a set that contains at least 50 cards. These will be used for dot books (which everyone is required to make). We will explain this further at band camp.
- Ear plugs are not required, but highly encouraged. As the band continues to grow each year, it gets louder when we have indoor rehearsal. Lots of stores like Walmart, Meijer, Walgreens and others have disposable ear plugs.
- Eat a good breakfast and lunch every day. Don't load up on sugar. Drink plenty of water. If possible, I would highly encourage going home to take a break for lunch.
- If you're going to be absent from any part of band camp, please make sure to inform your section leader and also fill out an absence request on our website. Your section leader or a drum major should be able to help catch you up on what you miss - make sure you touch base with them as soon as possible when you return from your absence.

You can also talk to the directors or instructors if you need anything or if something is going on that you think we should know about.
