What Is Geothermal Energy?
By: Aubre Collins
Geothermal Energy?
Geothermal energy is renewable due to the fact that the earth will never lose its core heat. It is found in the earths magma layer.
Geothermal power units
Single family homes use geothermal power units to cool and heat their home. They do this by inserting and attaching the pipe systems under the ground to use geothermal energy. The system placed under ground takes in air compressing it to warm the home or absorbs warm air to cool It
Geothermal vents
Geothermal energy can also be harnessed in steam pockets in the earths crust dispensing the steam from below through pressure and drilling. The steam pockets can be used to power a turbine.
Is it expensive?
This energy source is expensive to access whether by drilling to open up vents in the earth or purchasing a geothermal energy system to power your home. A geothermal heat pump costs around $ 2,500.
