Class of 2022: Extended Essay Summer Camp
The goal of this remote learning camp is for students to complete their extended essays with the assistance of knowledgeable IB teachers.
The extended essay is due on the first day of senior year, but when students attend this camp and complete the daily assignments, they will free up their summer for other pursuits.
Students interested in attending should sign up using this Google form on or before May 1: https://forms.gle/s6RUZ9dkHa2Fn8vn8
Class of 2022 and 2023: Leadership Conference Opportunity
Recruitment has begun for this summer’s Youth Leadership Conferences sponsored by the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW). Information can be found at http://moww-regionviii.org/ylc.html, which includes a video of prior Plano East student, Daniel Jungerman, who attended the conference in 2019. Attached is an information brochure.
Purpose: To teach high school students the fundamentals of Leadership, Americanism, Patriotism and the American Free Enterprise and Judicial systems, the fundamentals of citizenship. The conferences provide excellent speakers, workshops, networking with their peers from across the state and are a memorable experience for the high school students. Over 350 students are selected annually to attend these conferences, with awards presented to the Outstanding Student at each conference. The expectation is that the students will return to their high schools with a better understanding of what a leader truly is, how they lead effectively and impart that knowledge to their peers.
Who: Current sophomores and juniors. Although the conference is sponsored by prior military officers and their family members, the student does not need to be in ROTC or have any aspirations for military service.
When and Where: Selection of a course will be made on a first come, first serve basis. A student may choose any option as long as there is still availability.
